Community news: an archive note and the current resource library
The old community-news announcement now points readers toward the rebuilt directory and explains how the current edition works.
This address originally held an OpenSourceHunter site announcement about a community-news feature in October 2008. The old announcement and its submission system have not been recovered. This page preserves the context of the link without pretending that the former service is still operating.
What is available now
The current edition is a static directory of open source projects. Each entry explains what the project does, the workflow it may replace, and one consideration to check before adopting it. The primary outgoing link goes to its GitHub repository.
The resource library contains newly written guides at known historical article addresses. Topics include support systems, icon collections, design resources, and browser-based development patterns. Old downloads that have not been recovered are identified clearly instead of being presented as working archives.
How to evaluate a project suggestion
Look for a traceable source repository, an identifiable license, useful documentation, and a clear purpose. Review whether a feature belongs to an open source core or a separate paid offering. A compelling screenshot is a starting point for investigation, not evidence that the software suits every use case.
This edition has no public submission form or comment system. It does not collect a suggestion and then silently discard it. New entries are maintained in the site’s source and published as part of an editorial update.
